How to Obtain a Marriage License in South Carolina

Step1: You and you spouse have to come TOGETHER and file a written application with the probate court in your county.

  • All applicants are required to provide their social security cards

  • Applicants under the age of 25 are required to provided one piece of identifications which can be a Valid Driver’s License, Birth Certificate, SC Identification Card, Military ID, or a passport.

 

 

Step 2: Wait out the twenty-four hour waiting period after the application before the license can be picked up.

  • No blood test is required

  • No Residency required

 

Step 3: Find a minister, a rabbi, or an an officer authorized to administer oaths in the state of South Carolina to marry you!

 

 

Note: A South Carolina marriage license is valid only for marriages performed in South Carolina.

The CASH fee of $50 is due at the time of application

 

 

 

Charleston County:

A CASH fee of $70 is due at the time of application

 

 

 

Dorchester County:

 

Probate Court: Marriage License

St. George, SC 29477

 

A CASH fee of $40 is due at the time of application
