1. Use the TOP 5 method
Decide on 5 major WOW factors to splurge on (3 if your budget is less than $150 per person). Maybe you’ll go all out on the invitations and cut the other stationary options like programs and menu cards. Or, perhaps you’ll choose a very large and extravagant floral display that hangs from the ceiling and use minimal non-floral centerpieces. Choose 5 fabulous things that you just have to have, and then lay a strict unwavering budget to everything else.
2. Decrease your Guest Count
As a rule of thumb, you should always expect to spend at least $100 per guest for a wedding. The more guests you invite, the more you will likely spend. If you want to decrease your wedding cost, you can start by amending your guest list. You may even decide on a Styled Elopement which is a trending option for many couples. You get all of the extravagance of a high luxury wedding at a fraction of the cost. Invite 10 or so of your closest friends and family members and have the ultimate celebration.
3. Go for comfort foods
Barbecue, Mac and Cheese, Taco Bars, and Burgers, to name a few, are some of the least expensive top trending wedding foods. Your guests will adore having familiar food options that they know and love, and as an added bonus, you get to save a few bucks.
4. Choose a hotel venue
Hotel venues are a seemingly forgotten gem. While they are less popular, they do come in various shapes and sizes with stunning views and elegant atmospheres. Many of them come with tables, chairs, and even table linens, linen napkins, china, flatware, and stemware which of course will save you a ton in rentals. But that’s not all. Some hotels will even give you the venue rental Free (or at a heavily discounted rate) so long as you meet a certain food and beverage minimum.
5. Hire a Wedding Planner
Many people think that hiring a wedding planner is an unnecessary expense when in actuality it is a little-known fact that hiring a professional is likely to save you money. In truth, he or she may even save you more than his or her fee making the service practically free. That’s not a very steep price to pay at all for great deals and peace of mind.
6. Cut the Cake Early
Schedule all of the reception formalities such as the cake cutting and the bouquet toss to happen earlier on in the reception. That way, you can release your photographer and videographer sooner and book them for a lesser amount of time. Trust me, your guests will never know the difference.
7. Do Brunch
Schedule an early enough ceremony to have brunch or heavy hors d’oeuvres at the reception instead of dinner. Everyone loves brunch, and your wallet will thank you for it too.
